The 2027 French presidential election field is forming more than a year ahead of the April vote, with Emmanuel Macron barred by term limits from seeking a third consecutive term. Multiple candidates have declared across the spectrum, including Jean-Luc Mélenchon for La France Insoumise, Édouard Philippe and Gabriel Attal on the center-right, and Bruno Retailleau, who secured The Republicans' nomination via member vote in April 2026. Marine Le Pen faces a five-year public office ban from her embezzlement conviction, with the Paris Court of Appeals decision on her appeal scheduled for July 7, 2026; an upheld ruling would likely shift National Rally support to Jordan Bardella or another party figure. Party primaries, coalition negotiations, and further declarations will shape the final ballot.
