Javokhir Sindarov leads the 2026 World Chess Championship market at 64% implied probability after his dominant, record-setting victory in the FIDE Candidates Tournament in Cyprus, where the 20-year-old Uzbek grandmaster finished unbeaten with a standout score and earned a substantial rating gain into the world top five. This strong classical form, building on his 2025 World Cup title, has positioned him as the clear challenger against defending champion Gukesh Dommaraju. Gukesh sits at 34.5% amid a prolonged slump marked by multiple classical losses early in 2026, early exits in key events, and a decision to reduce his schedule for focused preparation. Traders view Sindarov’s recent momentum and head-to-head edge in qualifying as decisive factors in this upcoming title match.
