Emerson Jones holds the ranking edge at No. 136 to Mika Stojsavljevic’s No. 288, with both 17-year-olds contesting the WTA 125K Birmingham first round on grass at Edgbaston Priory Club. Jones arrives with stronger recent hard-court form, including a W100 Gifu title and deep runs against established players, while Stojsavljevic’s primary highlight is an April Billie Jean King Cup upset over a much higher-ranked opponent. The faster grass surface rewards serve-volley tactics and quick adaptation, areas where Jones’s greater match experience against top competition may provide an advantage, though Stojsavljevic’s home-nation wildcard status and recent confidence could narrow the gap in this closely matched encounter.
