Elon Musk’s January 2026 public announcement that he would seek full custody of his son with Ashley St. Clair—citing concerns over her statements on transgender issues—prompted the market, yet traders assign just an 8% implied probability to a “Yes” outcome. Family court norms in New York strongly favor shared parenting arrangements absent documented abuse or neglect, and no verified court filings or public evidence of imminent harm have emerged to support sole custody. St. Clair has pursued her own legal claims around paternity and support, keeping the matter contested in sealed proceedings. Historical precedent shows full-custody awards remain rare in high-profile cases without decisive judicial findings, leaving the strong “No” consensus intact while any resolution depends on private court developments rather than social-media statements.
