The upcoming runoff on June 7-8 in Cava de' Tirreni follows a fragmented first-round vote on May 24-25, where no candidate secured an outright majority. Raffaele Giordano, backed by a center-right coalition including Fratelli d'Italia, Forza Italia, and several civic lists, led with roughly 45 percent. Luigi Petrone, running as an independent civic candidate and former friar, advanced narrowly ahead of others with about 23 percent. The center-left coalition has declined to endorse either contender, while the UDC has thrown support behind Petrone. This split field, combined with local voter preferences and the narrow gap after initial balloting, keeps trader odds tightly contested ahead of the decisive second round.
