New Jersey’s 8th congressional district carries a Cook Partisan Voter Index of D+15, reflecting consistent Democratic margins in recent presidential and House contests. Incumbent Democrat Rob Menendez holds the seat after winning 59 percent in 2024 and benefits from established fundraising, party endorsements, and name recognition ahead of the November general election. Forecasters rate the race Solid or Safe Democratic, aligning with trader consensus that the party is heavily favored. The June 2 Democratic primary, featuring Menendez against challenger Mussab Ali, is not expected to alter the general-election outlook. A national political shift, significant scandal involving the nominee, or unusually strong Republican performance could narrow the margin, though historical patterns and current structural advantages make such reversals improbable.
