Incumbent Olivia Chow’s formal declaration of her re-election bid on May 25 has solidified her position as the clear frontrunner for the October 26, 2026, Toronto mayoral election. As the sitting mayor who won the 2023 by-election, Chow benefits from name recognition and institutional advantages heading into a contest against her primary challenger, city councillor Brad Bradford, who registered early in May and has focused criticism on housing, transit, and city operations. Other declared candidates, including Michael Ford and several lower-profile contenders, register minimal trader interest. Recent exchanges between Chow and Bradford over campaign practices have not altered the market’s assessment of the incumbent’s substantial lead.
